It entails moving goods in transportation units, for example, ISO containers of varying sizes like dry, reefer, and tank containers, swap bodies, and semitrailers, by employing different modes of transport without managing the goods inside. Often, the most efficient and economical approach is to transport these units by train, and then shift them to trucks for the final leg of delivery, known as ‘last mile delivery’, to the customer.
